Nothing

to write about today, because I don't want to be the 8,245th person to opine on the mosque, again and again. I'm pretty sure that somewhere along the way in his journey through various positions, Obama stopped at my position before moving on, although I'm not sure what his position actually is at this point.

Good news is that the 9th Circuit will be ruling soon on the motion for a stay of the Prop. 8 decision.

Stay tuned.

  1. btw, your comment about Obama made me think of that Whittman poem that was like, "I am everyone, i am the master, i am the slave..." and so on.

Complete tripe, but that is what it made me think of.

  2. @A.W. - Timing of 9th Circuit ruling can be predicted with certainty: About 1 hour after I get in the car to drive back to Ithaca tomorrow.

  3. There is one point that really needs to be emphasized, but that has gotten remarkably little play. The name "Cordoba," doesn't evoke some 21st century type of enlightened coexistence. And it would be good folks like the editors of the Washington Post who have waxed rhapsodic about this symbol face the truth that paying taxes for the privilege of living as second class citizens does not serve as an example of enlightened coexistence.

  4. do you seriously think the ninth circuit is going to grant a stay? I seriously doubt it personally.

  5. Well, here is something. Dan Reihl posted the link below on his site. It links to a report that Muslim leaders in America are starting to back down and seem headed destined to build that mosque elsewhere.

Needless to say, they also have the right to do what is right, not just what is legal. Maybe they are finally beginning to get it. Of course, it may be that building it at Ground Zero WAS the point. It will be interesting to see if the one they end up building will be as elaborate and cost anywhere near $140 million.

  6. Rorschach: upon hearing that Professor Jacobson has left the shop, the ninth circuit granted a stay.

  7. I'm more interested in having someone explain to me what today's Fifth Circuit court's ruling to delay the appeal of the decision to reverse the government's drilling moratorium in the Gulf until they understand Salazar's second moratorium. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
