Palin Eye Roll Derangement Syndrome

Palin Derangement Syndrome sufferers prove, once again, that they are flat out crazy.

These deranged people now are creating a fauxtroversy over whether Sarah Palin -- when contronted with a protester who identified herself as a teacher -- rolled her eyes.

Really.

Even Politico, proving that it too leaves no eye rolling unturned, describes the encounter as such:
“What do you do here?” Palin asked.

“I’m a teacher,” Gustafson responded, to which Palin appears to roll her eyes.

Here is part of Palin's response:
The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I – wait for it – “appear to roll my eyes” when the lady tells me she’s a teacher. Yes, it’s come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe that’s why Botox is all the rage – if you can’t move your eyebrows, your “eye rolling” can’t be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would “roll my eyes” at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.
This really is a shame, because the argument over whether Palin rolled her eyes obscures the really pressing questions:
What type of bracelet was Palin wearing?

Did Palin look busty in the video? and

Were any animals killed in the filming?

See you in November. And please, when the election results come in, don't roll your eyes.

Update: Taylor Marsh, who has a Ph.D. in eye rolling, analyzes the situation with the utmost seriousness:
What does Sarah Palin have against teachers? This might sound like snark, but it isn’t. I truly have no idea why any politician or political spokesperson would role his or her eyes at hearing that’s someone’s job.
And you know, the worst thing about the whole thing is that, according to CNN, Palin response to viral video raises brows. First the eye roll, now the brow lift.

Update 8-10-2010: Looks like the protester was doing this as a stunt for her radio show, and may not even be a teacher.

The burning question I've seen everyone asking: where did she get those boots?!

Oooohhhh. Aaaaahhhhh. Maybe a new trend, like her glasses. :D

  2. Sarah is so gracious to approach a woman holdings a "worse Governor ever" sign. Mrs. Palin never looks down her nose at anyone.

Teachers are an ornery bunch, ya know. And Sarah has first hand experience with that!

  3. Please--Marsh' expertise is in eye role-ing, something else altogether than eye rolling.

  4. Darn it, CF, beat me to it!

LOL, that moron Marsh doesn't even know the difference between "roll" and "role", and he presumes to give life lessons to a woman who ran a whole damn state?

    The hypocrisy is staggeting.

  5. Like the left would be okay with somebody holding a sign saying "Barak Obama Worst Senator EVER" and when Barak jovially inquires what he does for a living says, "Oh, I work for Haliburton...." The Democratic Party is practically a wholly owned subsidiary of the NEA.

  6. Liberals - in both major parties - fear and hate conservatives. they tried to smear Ronnie 46 years ago, and they are repeating against Sarah. Thank God Ronnie got past the GOP cement heads and the world is a much better place!

  7. Let's assume for the briefest of moments she DID roll her eyes. I know of teachers who put a DVD on for their students and that is the height of their pedagogical repertoire. They leave half an hour after the last bell rings and fight against standardised tests and for their benefits. There are remarkable, hard-working teachers out there and- unfortunately- they are lumped in with those who see teaching as an easy paycheque. Let's not shed a tear for the latter.

  8. The teacher lady was a patronizing b*tch. She pretended to be upset that Palin's no longer Gov... And the "your PRECIOUS bible" line was pure seething condescension.

The teacher is lucky the Saracuda didn't go all Obama on her rear end and kick her ass right on the spot.

  9. Professor,

There is only one problem, though... That was no teacher!!!!

The whole thing was a setup, a trap. She's no "teacher", but a singer in a drag queen band... and a "theater tech".

From "theater tech" to "teacher", there's a big jump... don't you think?

  10. Tom, cf- check out the commenters on that Marsh post. The 4th one loves to point out that democrats have a higher IQ than republicans but neglects (or likely missed) Marsh's error as well as the errors in each of the three previous comments! To/too, I/eye and proberly/probably. However the last is likely just a Freudian slip. I'd point it out there if it didn't make me register!

And it's been pointed out to me that the "teacher" is actually a singer in some transvestite's band, as well as a theater tech. Among other things, I'm sure.

  12. Sarah's ability to get the left foaming at the mouth is starting to fade. Reviewing history we find:

When she wore a visor while on a beach vacation last year it generated at least half a page of links on Memeorandum and made international news (the story was picked up by a blog at The Guardian).

Then, just a couple of months ago when she used an imaginary word on twitter (a medium where using imaginary shorthand words is the norm), the left was so moved by the event it generated about 1/3 of a page of links on Memeorandum.

Now yesterday, when the Soros funded lead dog in leftist idiocy, Think Progress, wondered if Sarah was caught on video rolling her eyes while standing in front of a gigantic 30 foot sign suggesting she is the "Worst Governor Ever", only about 1/4 of Memeorandum is filled with links. By my count, a total of 51 links, including a link to her reponse to the idiocy on Facebook and a handful of conservative blogs mocking the left for their ridiculous and unhinged hatred.

Sarcasm off: Does anybody really want to entrust our government to anyone backed by these hate filled luantics who only want to engage in character assassination and destroy people they disagree with?

  13. I am no fan of Palin... I read her body language as saying "Teaching, you have a hard job." But, it calls out a bigger issue for her. If she wants to play the politics game in this age of technology, she has to be on guard at all times to gaffes like this. Sounds stupid and silly, but it is reality. That is why she is targeted, and Obama is successful.

  14. People see what they want to see, I guess... Best to see the video and judge for oneself, rather than taking any blogger's word for what is/isn't in it, regarding attitudes and eye rolls...

The most disturbing thing to me is the bloggers who're now digging into the woman's whole life (which is bad enough) and "reporting" every dang scrap they think they may've found, maybe, rather than getting the story down cold, one way or the other.

Singer in a trannie band? Please...

The woman's a teacher or she isn't. Rather than all of the increasingly meaningless updates at MacsMind--being echoed throughout right wngnuttia as fact, rather than the latest bit of gossip, all too often--it'd be good if MacsMind got the facts, THEN posted the story for the rest to regurgitate. I'm just sayin'...

(I do give Jacobson props for including the words "may not be" in his update. "Gateway" Hoft and a few others I've seen couldn't be bothered to hedge in the slightest, and I won't be at all surprised to see that kinda rush to judgement biting 'em in the ass... again.)

  15. Gee, I wonder why a conservative would mistrust a teacher, when teachers have an invincible sense of entitlement to high pay, and teacher's unions are one of the big Democrat constituencies.

  16. She looked like a jerk. That's all. I'm sure she has the utmost respect for teachers, since some of her family are but it did look like a contemptuous reaction. To promote the fauxtroversy is somewhat illegitimate, however, as you are further covering her body language.

  17. It is the kind of look that might say "I kinda guessed it".... In other words what I am saying is the look was not one of contempt but more like a conspiratorial knowing wink to Bristol... certainly nothing to get one's knickers in a knot.

Anyway we are having more fun in Australia. The General election is on 21st August... I am hoping that we will kick out the backstabbing watermelon (green on the outside and red on the inside) Julia-the-Red (as in Marxist) Gillard.
