The most brilliant minds in the world devised the housing double dip, and they didn't even know it:
Housing's Double Dip: Is the Government to Blame? And these are the people who want to run the health care system. What possibly could go wrong?
The S&P Case-Shiller home price data for the first quarter of 2011 are so dreadful that nearly everyone agrees that the U.S. housing market is in the midst of a “double dip.” Curiously absent from many of these analyses is the role played by the federal government in helping to engineer a double-dip with its ill-devised homebuyer tax credit. Originally aimed only at first-time homebuyers and set to expire at the end of November 2009, the tax credit was later extended through the end of June 2010 and expanded to all homebuyers below certain income levels. The extension and expansion was attributed to the early “success” of the program, evidence for which consisted of nothing more than households’ willingness to accept free money from the government.
Additional point, new Obama campaign slogan:
"Yes you can accept free money from the government."--------------------------------------------

These are the same people who argued that the USSR didn't collapse due to the failures of communism but because they failed to impose ENOUGH communism. Same logic.
ReplyDeleteThe "brainiacs" involved will try to kick this can down the road beyond 11/2012 by any means possible, and we have about a dozen useful idiot RINOs who will probably help them for "humanitarian reasons". Adult stupidity is sad to see.
ReplyDeleteUnsaid in all of this is the ticking time bomb of Government Motors. I hope the UAW is able to ride that pony to the end, but I suspect they will soon discover the same decision makers that brought us the housing crunch have unknowingly set up a disaster even more spectacular for auto worker unions once the Dhimocrats are out of the WH and senate. Payback for putting it to all those stockholders will be something to behold. And sweet, unless you're on the list of those who've already "got theirs".
