Liberal Dems Fall on Swords

I told you the liberal Democrats who were protesting the "tax deal" would not buck Obama, and would fall in line.

So no surprise to see this headline at The Hill, Liberals giving up tax fight:

A House liberal who has led the effort to stop President Obama’s tax compromise with the GOP says efforts to change the package are futile.

Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.), who just a week ago circulated a letter signed by 54 Democrats urging opposition to the deal, now says the “die is cast.”
I also told you that Dems would present themselves as falling on their swords for the middle class:
Welch also praised several parts of the package, including extending the middle-class tax cuts and unemployment benefits for 13 months.
So predictable.

At this point, it appears that only Nancy Pelosi can stop the "tax deal," but I'm not holding my breath on that.

  1. Like I said, it's all kabuki. This was a done deal before it launched. The outrageous OUTRAGE was all for show, to play the "victim" card and let The One be the "fall guy."

Now it will be up to the next Congress to undo all this damage - on top of repealing O-care and cutting spending.

Is all lost? My hope in the new Congress is getting mighty thin.....RINOitis is taking hold. The Repubs don't seem to see the forest for the trees - these leftists play dirty, and expect Republicans to play nice, by the rules. Not gonna work - not against this bunch of ganster-thugs.

  2. The book end story to this will be when we discover that that all of those Republicans who are now vowing to spend the next two years repealing Obamacare and other out-of-control spending programs adopt the "well it's not all bad, some of this is good" attitude. Like that "pledge" that expired before the ink was dry and that oath to at least adopt a moratorium on ear marks.

"You didn't really think we meant it did you? You purist!"

If there is one thing that is bipartisan in Washington it is entrenched corruption.

  3. Congress in the modern era is the most dangerous entity in decades. Witness the visionless activity dating back to the late 80's/90's. Countless missteps. Responsibility? Heck, just point across the aisle, this group invented kicking the can down the road. Reagan was right about government (congress/legislative) being like a baby, having an unsatiable appetite feeding a remorseless conduit for excrement pointed right at the American people. Truly disgusting. These people clearly have no shame or conscience. The only consolation is their individual day of reckoning - thank God they can't can't decree or legislate individual everlasting life.
