Tamyra d'Ippolito Dem Nominee In Indiana? UPDATE: Not So

Hotline OnCall has retracted its prior report that d'Ippolito has the signatures needed: IN Dem Misses The Deadline

---------------------------------------------

It looks like the left-wing of the Democratic Party will get the candidate it wants as party nominee to replace Evan Bayh. According to Hotline OnCall, Tamyra d'Ippolito has enough signatures to qualify:

Restaurant owner Tamyra d'Ippolito (D) has enough signatures to make the ballot in the race to replace Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), she told Hotline OnCall in a brief nterview.

Reached at her home, d'Ippolito said she was on her way out the door to drop off more signatures at the county clerk's office. D'Ippolito's backers have until noon to submit 4,500 signatures, including 500 from each of the state's 9 districts, to the appropriate county clerks.

"To my knowledge, yes we do. There's people putting in signatures as we speak," d'Ippolito said when asked if she has the signatures necessary to qualify for the ballot. "The answer is yes."

Make no mistake, d'Ippolito is the candidate of the left-wing of the Democratic Party. The left-wing blogosphere is working to get her on the ballot so as make sure the party does not nominate a Blue Dog centrist. Right-wing blogs are working to see to it that the left-wing gets what it wants, namely d'Ippolito on the ballot.

In her quest to get on the ballot, d'Ippolito may have achieved the type of bipartisan support lacking in Washington.
