Keith Olbermann Now Free To Run For Congress

If Alan Grayson and Al Franken could do it, why not Keith?  Now that he is suspended indefinitely without pay by MSNBC for failing to disclose his campaign contributions to Democrats, Olbermann can become part of the team, instead of just watching from the bleachers.

What other Democrat could give a speech like this:

And an apology like this:

Actually, quite a few of them.  He'd fit right in.

  1. Ha ha ha ha. Not sure if the network is doing this to throw a bone to the Tea Party wave that just swept in, but it is a fitting tribute. Olbermann, thumbs down.

  3. I hear Alan Grayson is looking for work, and now this opening at MSNBC.

  4. The suspension seems pretty stupid. Ogremann hosts an MSNBC produced daily infommercial whose purpose is to promote Democrats and spew hate against Republicans but they won't let him donate to Democrats?

Am I the only one who thinks this indefinite suspension is a stunt and that it will probably be "resolved" over the weekend so Ogremann can get back to spewing his normal hate on Monday? Or, maybe it gets resolved and Ogremann takes a week or so of paid vacation.

  5. The rumor going around is that Robert Gibbs will be leaving the White House soon? Hehehehehehe
And at the end of every briefing he announces "The Worst" reporter in attendance.

  6. The irony is quite thick here, actually. It's typically us conservatives who champion free speech. The consensus opinion of commentators over at Ace of Spades HQ is generally that MSNBC was too harsh meting out punishment of Olbermann, that Keith is entitled to donate to campaigns as he sees fit. He is already "donating" to progressive candidates by promoting them on his show.

Notice that the defenders are not necessarily standing up for Keith's free speech per se. They seem to be denigrating the corporate managers of the network and by extension the profit motive and the free market. They're saying that MSNBC is wrong for silencing a certain point of in defiance of profit for... honestly, I can't understand their perspective.

There are two lines of reasoning for defending Keith Olbermann, that of free speech and that of it being in MSNBC's best interest to keep Keith. The liberals find themselves on the wrong side of both arguments however.

  7. I'm sure that George Soros can find work for a dedicated light-worker of such high moral and ethical standards.

  8. You know, if I'm not mistaken, a position opened up at NPR recently. And since it's radio, there's no technological reason why Keith's appearances on NPR could not be done directly from Keith's bath tub.

  9. If he's actually out, I wouldn't be surprised if Grayson doesn't get an offer.

  10. I'm in the waiting-for-the-other-shoe-to-drop camp, too. Nobody represents MSDNC's true journalistic standards (I threw up a little there) like Undermann. Stunt.

But speaking of Franken, a nauseatingly similar "recount" is about to occur here in NC between WHO ARE YOU?, CHOKE-HOLD, Etheridge and Renee Ellmers. The RNCC has dropped the ball (but recently contributed a token $10,000) to help offset the cost of monitoring the recount.

William, please have your readers help out.
