Looks about right to me.
Best laugh of the day (through tears, of course).
ReplyDeleteU.S. Marine Cpl. Chuck Martin, 24-year-old native of Middletown, Rhode Island -- part of a new generation of young troops growing up thousands of miles from home -- I bet has no Cocktail Hours logged in his detailed diary of his first two months in Afghanistan.
ReplyDelete"Since arriving in mid-July, troops from the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines' Echo Company have spread out across 13 small, spartan outposts in northern Marjah, a vast patch of fields and ancient hardened mud homes without running water or electricity that one company commander likened to '200 B.C.'"

How amazing that Cpl. Martin hails from a town (and indeed a nation) that built their children's future upon what is now in the hands of their historical societies -- a one room school house circa 1875, wind grist mill circa 1810, founding farm circa 1715 -- while such items of human innovation are of the future horizon to Marjah. Indeed, Afghanistan's water canals were built by America decades ago. Time marches on and look how far Middletown is with a new Wind Turbine Ordinance Amendment. Not a windmill in sight in Marjah let alone the promise of green jobs.

Sand it would seem is just about the only thing (outside of American men and women willing to help those less fortunate unlike their muslim brothers in Saudi Arabia) these two places have in common. Take a look at the Sachuest Auto Races, Sachuest Beach, Middletown, Rhode Island, 1906, where the women and men mix.

Now wonder at the progressive scaremongers who ban DDT while Afghanistan, women and children hardest hit, faces disfiguring tropical disease from sand-flies. Furthermore, contemplate that muslim block of 57 UN nations and just what they do with all their petro dollars besides ignoring Afghani suffering.

Yes, President Barack Hussein Obama II your teleprompters of innovation and human achievement don't look out of place per se with the American flag but make no mistake we know it is our military holding American values high across the world.
