If It's Tuesday, Health Reform Must Save Us Money

Let's review the past two days.

On Sunday, the Democratic health care restructuring proponents were trumpeting a report by an MIT economist claiming, based on a prior CBO scoring of Harry Reid's bill, that private premiums in the non-group market would drop $200-$500. The White House, among others, claimed this analysis reflected a really, really important point in favor of Reid's bill. I said the analysis was nonsense.

On Monday, the CBO released another report, contradicting to the MIT economist, and estimating that private premiums in the non-group market would rise significantly. The CBO report indicated that the only way Reid's plan would lower premiums was if the government gave heavy subsidies. Nonetheless, the White House touted this CBO report as showing that Reid's plan saves us money, based on the lower costs after subsidie, as if the government giving people money to buy policies represented a lower cost of the premiums.

This is Tuesday, so supporters of the Reid bill will claim that the bill will save us money. Because it's Tuesday. That's all the reason they need.

  1. "Tuesday" has been the best reason I've heard yet for the Public Option swallowing free market healthcare.

The federal government reminds me of a drunk/junkie who is compelled to spend money and needs little excuse to feed their habit - Tuesday has always been a good excuse for a drunk to drink... or for a mosquito to suck blood.

  2. Excellent ratiocination. The problem is that it is directed at a situation run by imbiciles who do not have the qualification that SHOULD be a prerequisite to be in the Senate: common sense.

Talk about ballet, I think Democratic coreography is creative and creepy. All of those closed doors - many at undisclosed locations. It's like a carnival fun house.

Their biggest constituency are all of those unabashed illegal aliens (aka undocumented workers) who swear that non-passage will be racist and who knows what they swear and/or will do. If I were an illegal anything, I would shut up and hide. But not this group of them. They feel that they are the true native Europeans since Columbus discovered America. I guess like the jihadists, they are here to overturn our legal system?

CBO? We need national psychiatric help. America is in decline alright. And the Democrats have done everything except put a a death clause in the Constitution.
