Obama Already Has Started Joe Lieberman's Yemen War

Yet more utter nonsense spread in the left-wing blogosphere, this time about how Joe Lieberman wants the U.S. to "invade" Yemen.

In fact, Lieberman said that we needed to act "preemptively" against al-Qaeda in Yemen to avoid Yemen becoming the next war, and said nothing advocating an invasion of Yemen. The usual twist of words: Joe Lieberman saying we should take steps to avoid invading Yemen gets portrayed as a statement by Joe Lieberman saying we should invade Yemen.

News flash, we are acting pre-emptively in Yemen, on orders of Barack Obama:

In the midst of two unfinished major wars, the United States has quietly opened a third, largely covert front against Al Qaeda in Yemen.
And we are doing it in cooperation with the government of Yemen, to avoid a situation as happened in Afghanistan leading up to 9/11.

Fortunately, when it comes to Yemen, Obama has more sense than his supporters, although the administration does need to do a better job connecting the dots from Yemen to terror activities such as the attempted Detroit airplane bombing. A good first step would be getting rid of Janet "The System Worked" Napolitano.

Since the U.S. currently is acting "preemptively" in Yemen, this must mean that Joe Lieberman has taken over the U.S. government, and is using Barack Obama as his puppet to wage unnecessary wars. Maybe that was part of the secret deal to get Independent Joe to vote for Obamacare.

The bigger question is: Why are we even worried about al-Qaeda in Yemen, since al-Qaeda is a "joke" and nothing to "fear"?

Unless, of course, you or a loved one is on the plane; or you support the right of Americans to live free from fear of attack; or you understand the collateral economic devastation from an airplane explosion; or you recall that successful attacks beget more attacks.

Somehow, if al-Qaeda were attacking "netroots" bloggers conferences, I doubt the threat would be viewed by these pundits as a joke and something not to fear.

Reason #3107 why we need to tune out the left-wing blogosphere on matters of national security.

Final thought: I'm taking Obama's side on an issue. Happy New Year.

Update: From the NY Times:

Sewn into the underwear of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was a powerful plastic explosive, the authorities say.

Had Mr. Abdulmutallab, sitting in seat 19A of Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Friday from Amsterdam to Detroit, been able to set off the explosive, it might have blown a hole in the side of the airplane and caused it to crash, experts believe.

Some "joke"; nothing to "fear" here, move along.

  1. Well, I'm on "Obama's side" on a recent issue as well.

He's on vacation in Hawai'i, and was when the flap about the terrorist on the Detroit-bound airplane blew up. His initial reaction was to do nothing public. It was the right decision.

When 9/11 happened, George W. Bush was doing a PR trip to a Florida school. His reaction was to get the mechanisms started, assign people, and the like, then he went back to his original plan. It was the right decision -- and if it was the right decision for Bush, it's the right decision for Obama, and vice versa.

It's fun to watch the Proggs twist in the wind over it, though. "My Pet Goat", they sneer, and they're more or less forced to apply the same standard to their pet. The cognitive dissonance is a wonder to behold.

    Regards,

  2. Ric - Bush was put on Air Force One and flown to a base in Oklahoma (state?).

It is possible that Obama was evacuated from his known location in Hawaii making it impossible for him to comment. Then, too, he may have not wanted to unduly upset the traveling public.

I have written a post on: "Why Yemen? Why Didn't our Data Protect Us" that puts the focus on the original slip up.

Senator Lieberman was so right in coming out publically about the issue and as always, he was crucified for his stand and his words minced and reconstituted.

We cannot afford a government that cannot say with authority that we are working on corrective measures, etc. They just roll over, blame Republicans and die.

  3. Hmm, let's see. A race-baiting, left-wing lawyer, with a personal history of being sympathetic to both Islam and socialism is "ambivalent" about US history and sovereignty and repeatedly "apologizes" to 3rd world despots, is relucatant to use the wors "war on terror", is giving US citizen legal rights to foreign terrorists......Where does all this lead?

To Fort Hood and Flight 253 to Detroit. That's where.

  4. The Yemen trail has been a long one, yet for more than 10 years it has been ignored. Yemen was the scene for the blowing up of the USS Cole. Yemen is the poor relation of Saudi Arabia. Yemen is the birthplace of the false prophet Mohammad the pedophile.

It is not just the USS Cole connection that is of interest here. Some of the other connections are:

    - Bali and other Indonesian bombings. The imam that is involved is Bakir Bashir. He is a Yemeni who lives in Indonesia.
    - Hasan of Ft. Hood fame was in contact with Alawaki (the wacky) who is the American born imam who fled to Yemen. He is the same imam who knew the killers of the 9/11 act of terror.
    - Yemen is also associated with the first attempt to blow up the WTC.
    - OSL has a connection to Yemen, and it is more than likely that he hides out in Yemen when he is not hiding in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Yemen connection has been missed for several years. Perhaps there needs to be more of the kind of activity that killed so many AQ operatives as we have seen from recent strikes.

  5. US citizens have the right to live without fear of attack but afghani citizens must except an oops my bad slip when their entire family is killed. If this happened more than twice in a year (a la 2 big Wacos) we would have a civil uprising from the teabaggers.
BTW Maggie Osama bin is dead, many nonpartisan historians agree, so you can stop worrying about what was computer generated trickery to begin with!
