But this outburst by an Iranian General leads me to think Stuxnet continues to vex the Iranians, via ComputerWorld:
An Iranian military commander Saturday accused the German electronics giant Siemens with helping U.S. and Israeli teams craft the Stuxnet worm that attacked his country's nuclear facilities.--------------------------------------------
According to the Islamic Republic News Service (IRNA), Iran's state news agency, Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali laid some of the blame for Stuxnet on Siemens.
"Siemens should explain why and how it provided the enemies with the information about the codes of the SCADA software and prepared the ground for a cyber attack against us," Jalali told IRNA.

May they NEVER EVER get rid of Stuxnet! May it be included in every computer system they purchase!
ReplyDelete"Siemens should explain why and how it provided the enemies with the information about the codes of the SCADA software and prepared the ground for a cyber attack against us," Jalali told IRNA.
ReplyDeleteLOL
Why:
If Siemans was not providing this information to the people that design and install SCADA systems. You could count on the fingers of one hand just how many controllers they would sell.
How:

Have they tried calling customer service at Siemens?

ReplyDeleteHow about they didn't want to be part of a nuclear Jihad on Europe? Maybe not even Israel?
You know the area IRAN (aka Persia) has attempted to conquer and subjugate for, let me see, ABOUT 5,000 YEARS?
(them and mesopotamia. Aka Babylon. Ask the Jews about how friendly those folks have been over the milleniae. Or just read the Torah or Old Testament.)
When some jackhole who represents an area of the world that has spent millions of lives for thousands of years trying to conquer an area of land and people far from their borders makes threats to those same areas and people (AGAIN!), I'd pay real close attention and ASSUME those threats were REAL!
To Siemens AG: SALUTE!
How about a reality check here? For thousands of years, the only products the Persians have made of sufficient quality, that could be exported throughout the world, have been really nice rugs.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that they expected to go from rugs directly to nuclear weapons in a few years just because they purchased the plans from A. Q. Kahn?
I'll bet 5 will get you 10 they they're having a lot more problems than just Stuxnet. In fact, the Stuxnet virus may now be providing a convenient excuse to for them to deflect attention away from their inability to resolve many of their other technical problems.
Thank God their looms are manually operated.
re manually: Even so, there is a looming crisis, John G.
ReplyDelete...a looming crisis that everyone seems to be letting go to waste. But for the pressing of a few buttons, I believe we could once again return their rug business to its former level of prominence as their highest level of manufacturing technology.
ReplyDeleteA knotty problem to be sure, John: how to remove Iran's throwback fringe extremists from power without crushing modern, western compatible Persian designs.
ReplyDeleteSolution to knotty problem - Step 1, cleanse the Iranian facilities used to make nuclear weapons from the face of the earth. Side note to Step 1, do it when they are full of people working inside of them. Step 2, in the midst of their rebuilding effort, repeat Step 1. Step 3, provide good citizens of Iran with Remington 700's (or equal) by the thousands so that they can reach out from afar and "touch" those who are murdering civilized protesters.
ReplyDeleteAs time goes on it only becomes more difficult to accomplish this objective. Consider Neville Chamberlain’s prophesy. We should do it at a time of our choosing before we have to react to the detonation of a thermo-nuclear weapon in Tel Aviv.
I believe the Dimona plant in the Negev Desert has already developed the means to accomplish Step 1. Can you imagine how the balance of Israeli’s hostile neighbors will fall in line after such a cleansing?
