President Obama declared today's 41st annual Earth Day proof of America's ecological and conservation spirit—then completed a three-day campaign-style trip logging 10,666 miles on Air Force One, eating up some 53,300 gallons at a cost of about $180,000. And that doesn't include the fuel consumption of his helicopter, limo, or the 29 other vehicles that travel with that car.Cut it up, paste it in. Done.

Yet we are supposed to sacrifice our standard of living to save the Earth. Damn me for driving my SUV to get groceries and take my children to Drs. appointments. In the words of Professor Lewin, f@$% off Obama and Chu and your dreams of $7/gallon gas.
ReplyDeleteI feel less guilty about driving my Town Car solo from San Diego to Michigan and back this summer.

Here's the spot pinpointed (the $4.27 point) where Obama had dinner with the elite of Hollywood. A place called "The Tavern" in Brentwood, about a mile from our house near the intersection of San Vicente and Barrington. Here's the closest gas station, about a block away from The Tavern. I wonder if Obama peered out the window of his gas-guzzling limo and saw gasoline going for $4.27 per gallon at the Shell station.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, "The Onion" is too busy making lame "Republicans sure are evil!" jokes to cover stuff like this.
ReplyDeleteAh, well.

ReplyDeleteObama plays us for such fools. Let's see what happens in 2012. By the way, I just finished Cashill's Deconstructing Obama. I recommend it. [correcting typo from prior post]

ReplyDeleteThat just dont seem right. That is 5 gallons per mile.
@pt: Oh, easily. I flew F-15s which would burn 2000 gallons of fuel for a cross-country flight of about 1000 miles. 2 gallons per mile. And the Eagle is just a little tiny thing compared to AF 1.

I'm pretty sure Harrison Ford said it first.

This is, of course, all the Republican’s fault. Obviously Congress should have already passed a bill for a $10,000,000,000 green program to develop a hybrid 747. The president might have only burned 3 gallons per mile instead of 5. Darn those rascally Republicans .
