"As president, Barack Obama would be a genuine uniter."Now on to the main course:
I noted yesterday, to the surprise of many readers, that Obama's 60 Minutes appearance was his best yet, and that the bin Laden killing was Obama's finest moment to date.
I even pointed out that Obama gave (some) credit to prior administrations, which is not his usual style. He spoke nice words, with none of the (domestic) enemies-list verbiage which has been his stock in trade.
That didn't last long.
In a speech on immigration today, Obama lashed out at and mocked Republicans, saying Republicans wanted to build an alligator infested moat at the border:
"We have gone above and beyond what was requested by the very Republicans who said they supported broader reform as long as we got serious about enforcement," Obama said. "But even though we've answered these concerns, I gotta say I suspect there are still going to be some who are trying to move the goal posts on us one more time."I thought this Twitter reaction to the speech by Rory Cooper of The Heritage Foundation was appropriate:
"Maybe they'll need a moat," Obama said mockingly to laughter from the crowd. "Maybe they'll want alligators in the moat."
As was this tweet from Tim Carney of The Washington Examiner:
I don't know about you, but between the sleazy League of Women Voters ad against Scott Brown, and Obama's alligator moat speech, I think I'm getting motivated again.

Well, I really wouldn't mind alligators in the moat, but my preference would be the Nile crocodile. They're bigger, nastier, and would get the job done.
ReplyDeletehonestly I would prefer a AH-64 to patrol our boarder, because nothing says "USE THE FRONT DOOR NOT THE BACK" like a 30mm chain gun and Hellfire missiles.
ReplyDeleteHow about great white sharks?
ReplyDeleteIt's entirely understandable when you remember that "reasonable" is Alinsky code for "if you disagree with me, you will be mocked mercilessly".
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy with a 2 layered fence topped with razor wire
ReplyDeleteOur nation just cannot take four more years of this Alinsky’ite..
ReplyDeleteRules for Radicals/Saul Alinsky
Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.
Is he implying that Mexicans can't swim? Isn't that racist?
ReplyDelete@Cowboy Curtis - haven't seen you around here in a while. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated, Professor. Since I wasn't named in the grand jury's indictments, I figure its safe to come above ground again. Interneting is tough when you're on the lam.
ReplyDeleteRe the TSA groping kids...
ReplyDeleteIt's almost like Obama wants to let people in, but not out.
You know, like the Berlin Wall.
Conservatives are playing this wrong. Convince them illegals are TEA Partiers and there will be a moat dug in a week. Gators? It'll be sharks with fricken' laser beams.
ReplyDelete(sigh) For some reason I really wanted to work in a reference to Balaam's ass somewhere. Just couldn't make it fit.
Amazing that this punk is President of the United States.
ReplyDeleteHe just won the California vote. Wait, that would be racist. In 2112 we'll need all the help we can get from the rest of you.
ReplyDeleteThis linked story was posted 2:32 hrs ago and will in the minutes have 42,000 comments. It looks to me like there are at least a few more than the regular conservative posters.
ReplyDeleteIMO, our country is getting tired of the illegal immigrants getting all the benefits from the Administration while American citizens get less and less.

Today, following the President's philosophy of never letting a crisis go to waste (Obama's pandering amnesty speech in El Paso today), the Texas Congress passed a bill making sanctuary cities in Texas illegal. It also gives the State Attorney General the ability to haul into court those politicians of sanctuary cities if they refuse to follow both state, and federal, immigration laws or if they fail to enforce them.
ReplyDeleteYou can't say we Texans don't have a sense of humor.
Perhaps Obama can come back to Texas for the governor's signing of our recently passed Voter ID law.
His comments are in keeping with Rep. Slaughter's belief (name ironic) that Freshmen GOP Reps ran for office to kill women.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually inclined to let this stuff slide. Save it for a good montage during the election cycle. Indys will see how absurd it is, and the big man can get lumped in with an overall trend of absurdity.
For some reason it appears TheWon's team hasn't informed him a) border fence hasn't been finished b) there are a lot of border patrol issues, deaths, murders, drug traffic ad naseum and c) Eric Holder is on hot seat for American deaths due to his departments shoddy "project gun runner" program or d) Feds and Arizona have an upcoming court date on this very issue (don't they?!)
ReplyDeletenaaaah, can't be he's misinformed on anything, right?
Oh, thank God! You had me worried that you actually believed a word this clown uttered. He's exactly who and what we know he is. Don't be fooled by his rhetoric when he sounds like he gets it. He doesn't. He never has. He never will. That is fact.
ReplyDeleteA moat with alligators huh?
ReplyDeleteY'know, that's not such a bad idea...
A moat with alligators? As Steve Irwin himself would say, "Crikey that's a big crock!"
ReplyDeleteCowboy Curtis has good instincts. Balaam's ass would be just what the big nothing needs by his side as he wends his way down the pathway of US politics the next 18 months, but fortunately for the country he has neither the humility or self-awareness to comprehend this. In his thinking President Ego can do no wrong.
ReplyDeleteEl Paso had alligators in San Jacinto Plaza from 1883 to 1965, and from 1972 to 1974, right in the heart of downtown. So a moat with alligators would not be out of place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Jacinto_Plaza
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about this a lot lately.... maybe we shouldn't build a wall/fence or moat. Way things are going that desert might come in handy to go south someday.
ReplyDeleteThat which keeps people out can also keep people in.
