U.S. Boycotting Durban III - A Good Start But Why Stop There?

The United States will be boycotting the "Durban III" conference:
The US on Wednesday announced it will not attend the 10-year commemoration of a global UN conference on combating racism because past meetings have included “ugly displays of intolerance and anti-Semitism.”

The Obama administration made the announcement in a letter from Acting Assistant Secretary of State Joseph Macmanus to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Democrat of New York. The UN World Conference Against Racism will be held in New York on September 21.
Claudia Rosette has background on the hideous Durban series of conferences:
In the United Nations cosmos of Orwellian ventures, one of the prominent features has become the series of conferences named for an initial 2001 conclave in Durban, South Africa. That gathering was supposed to be about fighting racism. Instead, it became a debauch of anti-Semitic Israel-bashing so extreme that then-U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell ordered the U.S. delegation to walk out. That conference is now known as Durban I
With the aim of building on the achievements of Durban I, the UN followed up in 2009 with Durban II, also known as the Durban Review Conference. That was held in Geneva, Switzerland, amid the manicured flowerbeds, peacock-bedecked lawns and BMW-filled parking lots of the UN’s Palais des Nations, former home to the failed League of Nations. Durban II is most memorable for having featured, as a star speaker, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The Obama administration decided close to the last minute to boycott that conference. Ahmadinejad’s speech triggered a walkout by a host of Western delegates.
This is a good decision by the Obama administration, but why stop there?

Why not do everything within our power to shut down the entire U.N. anti-Israel and anti-Semitic agenda which masquerades under the cover of a concern for "human rights."

Let's start with that sick joke also known as the U.N. Human Rights Council, and move on from there.

Scaling back the U.N., not just our contribution to it, needs to be on the agenda for presidential candidates in 2012.

  1. I'd actually donate real money to the 2012 candidate who said he/she would pull us out of the UN, defund them completely and give them 180 days to relocate out of the country.

  2. The stealth Interfaith/Destroy Israel movement funded by the Saudis, and housed in the UN needs to be stopped. I'm with 49erDweet

  3. More evidence that the Obama crowd realizes how big a political gaff his 1967 speech was, which was really just a reiteration of Arab proposition back in the 1970's.

  4. As Whiskey Jim just said, this was done solely to cover the terrible performance of Obama with Netanyahu. As good as this measure is, it would not surprise me if Obama quietly sent someone there anyway. I trust nothing Obama does, and with good reason.

  5. The UN needs to relocate to Port-au-Prince. Cheap land, lots of cheap labor to build a whole new headquarters.

  6. Well, if we can't get the UN out of New York, then I suggest we put them in the tops floors of the Freedom Tower. That way, if Al-Qaeda strikes again, we won't really lose anything of value.
