Piper Palin as Media Bouncer

Andrew Sullivan says "my bad," but it's worse than my bad (h/t Tom Maguire):
Piper Palin As Bodyguard

Is it too outrageous to ask why this little girl is not in school, rather than acting as a media bouncer for her mother on a publicity/campaign tour? Update: because school in Alaska is now out for the summer. My bad.
This is the video (via Gawker) which inspired Sullivan's comment about Piper being a bouncer.  She does force her way between a reporter pushing his way towards her mom and nudges him aside with her shoulder, which makes this my second favorite Piper Palin video:

  1. I'm teling ya, that kid may be the toughest of all the Palins. She already knows how to handle the media.

    Piper in 2036!

  3. Piper's a trooper..

"Later, rushing to get into an SUV, Palin seemed to neglect to thank the Bunker Hill park rangers. Piper stepped in, grabbing her mother's attention to show them gratitude."

A somewhat snide subtly anti-Palin article on Piper Palin by ABC but it did contain that gem above.

    ABC

Piper watchers over the years know she is a handy girl to have around. I expect we may see more of her.

  4. Oh, by the way, school is out in Alaska May 20th. I know that why didn't Sullivan?

  5. Or another take on this video:

Why don't the paparazzi (nyuk, nyuk, nyuk)show respect for a mother trying to tend to her child?

  6. *Piper in 2036!*

    Go Piper!
She's a real scene stealer, and it's obvious that she's brought her game face to this tour. There's just something very endearing about this fierce, fearless and determined little girl.
That said, it will be good for her to have a break and be back home in AK for a bit. Road trips are exhausting to anyone.

  7. Who'd have thought that an out of the closet, internet sex trolling, expat from Britain (a country that currently obeys Sharia law almost as much as Jordan) would be sooooo concerned with someone's vagina and those created therefrom.

We need a new label as he's not just a concern troll, he's a vagina-oriented concern troll.

Never hear him worry too much about Todd (probably cause he gets the shivers thinking about Todd confronting him over a story) or Levi 'I've almost reached my goal of becoming lower than a gay porn fluffer' Johnston when he was first acting up then acting out then disappeared. (Where'd he go by the way. wasn't he writing a book or something?)

Anyway, Andrew and the Yobs at The Daily Beast should maybe refocus their efforts at character assassination to some where that might be effective.

Aiming at Sarah's crotch or her progeny ain't working Andrew.

  8. I remember when Palin debuted at the Republican convention. At one of the blogs I frequent, a self-professed "intelligent" liberal commenter predicted that Palin would lose the "family values" vote because baby Trig was on stage so late at night.

One of the conservative moms chimed in that babies are pretty much on their own time zone.

I chimed in that the speech was in Minnesota, which is Central Standard Time (where we are located). As I recall, she spoke at 9:30, which meant that Alaska time was 6:30.

Other commenters said I "owned" that thread.

  9. Besides the spunk it shows, I find it notable how she's (not) dressed (up). Mom, of course, is dressed prim and proper. But Piper is dressed like a kid on vacation. And apparently her mother doesn't care. Good for her. She's letting Piper tag along, and be herself, rather than dress her out in a way that the media might like, but which Piper wouldn't. I preach weddings and funerals, and I've noticed that a lot of common folk these days are a lot less likely to dress up for such occasions. It seems like they are a lot more laid back and less hung up on "bourgeois appearances" than are the politicians.

  10. Andrew Sullivan is malicious and uninformed. No news there.

Piper is my favorite "grizzly cub"!

  11. I don't suppose it ever occurred to Sullivan that Piper, as an autonomous person in her own right, might have chosen to place herself between her mother and the reporter because she -- gasp! -- loves and cares for her mom and is protective of her, particularly in light of how the press has treated her mom. It's not like the Palins have shielded their kids from what the press have been doing to Sarah.

And as for him not knowing about school not being in session... why should he? It's not like he's ever been a parent. Of course, as an alleged journalist, he could be expected to do some research before making his snide comments...

You know, if Sully truly cared so much about the Palin kids and their delicate sensibilities, maybe he'd stop spreading lies about their mom at the drop of a hat. Nah!

  12. Is it too early for Piper to have a PAC for a future presidential run?

  13. Suppose school was in session. Piper Palin would learn more in one day traveling from Washington, DC to NH with her mom than she would learn in a week in school. Piper was having pizza with the Donald the other day, now she can always ask him for a reference. Imagine the conversations she has been privy to. I bet she has been soaking it all up.

Maureen O'Connor said not only does she throw a nice block for her mom she gives great stink eye.

    Piper Palin stink-eye

  14. Piper looks like she's ready to kick some reporter ass.... and I'd pay good money to see Bashir laid out on the sidewalk after she got through with him.

  15. My first impression was, "here's a kid who won't let any impudent, bad-mannered, intrusive, loutish, pushy so-called adult intrude into or usurp the space she rightly deserves directly alongside her mom". More power to her.
