Strong-Arming Your Doctor

The process by which Democratic leaders are strong-arming various groups to coerce support for health care restructuring is a warning sign to all about the abuse of government power which will take place if the Democratic proposals pass.

The Democrats shook down the pharmaceutical industry to gain advertising dollars in support of Democratic proposals, and are threatening to sick the Department of Justice on the insurance industry for opposing the proposals. Humana was threatened when it expressed concern, and health care protesters have been labeled terrorists and racists.

Add your doctor to the list of victims of Chicago-in-Washington politics:

The White House and Democratic leaders are offering doctors a deal: They’ll freeze cuts in Medicare payments to doctors in exchange for doctors’ support of healthcare reform.
All the while, the deal making is going on behind closed doors. This is the worst of the worst of Washington politics. If doctors were in favor of Democratic proposals, the Obama administration and Harry Reid would not need to engage in legalized bribery and strong-arm tactics.

These tactics are the canary in the coal mine. If Democratic proposals pass, and the federal government gets the chance to draft regulations governing every aspect of your health care, you won't stand a chance.

  1. It may come as a surprise to you, but most physicians favored health care reform with the public option before this deal. The deal, by the way, is new only in that it gives the AMA a permanent solution for a problem they've successfully lobbied on annually since the most recent Medicare reforms were enacted years ago.
