Is Ashjian a plant or just a lone wolf? Does it matter? Some are accusing Jon Scott Ashjian, a new Tea Party candidate running for U.S. Senate, of being a fake. The allegation? He was put in the race by agents of Senate Majority leader Harry Reid to siphon votes from the GOP.
"No doubt about it", says Danny Tarkanian, one of the many Republican senate candidates hoping to challenge Reid in November. "Nobody in the Tea Party knows who he is. He didn't know any of the principles of the Tea Party," Tarkanian tells CNN....
Sue Lowden, the Republican front-runner in the Senate primary according to recent polls, is the former Nevada Republican Party chair and seems to be the Republicans' best hope of unseating Harry Reid in November. Or at least she did, until Ashjian got into the race. Lowden says she's been very active with Tea Party group in Nevada. "I am a Tea Party voter, absolutely." Which is why she tells us she finds it "a little strange" that Ashjian is emerging now....
This should be a lesson to the Tea Party activists as to the damage a third-party effort can do where there already is a candidate in the race who represents Tea Party values.
Splintering the opposition is the best way for Democrats to survive the November elections and continue the reign of error. Don't hand it to them on a silver platter.

I don't think a plot to run phony "tea party" candidates is likely to succeed for the simple reason that tea party folks are, almost by definition, PAYING ATTENTION. In fact, for that reason, I think it's likely to backfire on the candidate and whomever is perceived to be behind such shenanigans (I'm looking at you, Harry Reid).
ReplyDeleteOT: Now, if Queen Nancy can't bribe and coerce enough Congressmen to pass the Senate bill, they are devising a way to ram the Senate bill through without the House even voting on it with something called the Slaughter Solution. Democrats are now behaving as tyrants.

It's not like Repubs are any better. About the only difference is the war: Democrats want us to lose the war, and Republicans are generally ambivalent and some want us to win. With war concerns receding (rightly or wrongly), what do we have to lose?
ReplyDeleteDid you hear about 6 Repub Congresscritters scheduling a press-conference for tomorrow where they plan to bash enterprenerial space companies and push the crazy government bonghole that Mike Griffin hoisted upon NASA? This is INSANE in uppercase. They ought to be carried out of DC on a rail. As long as this sort of thing keeps happening, Tea Party is not going to align with GOP, split be damned.
I have heard about this person through other blogs and sources. He is a Harry Reid plant. He is not a part of the Tea Party coalition.
