It Always Has Been About Trig

I waited a whole day before posting about the Sarah Palin resignation. Well, not a whole day, but longer than almost everyone else in the blogosphere. Here's my take as of this moment in time, subject to change:

I don't know why Sarah Palin resigned, what her plans are, or whether she has or wants a political future.

I do know why the left hates her so much. And it keeps coming back to Trig.

Yes, some people hate Sarah Palin because she doesn't have the traditional pedigree, she isn't one of them, she is too good looking to be taken seriously, etc. And yes, some hate her because they hate her religion, politics, blah blah blah. But that doesn't explain the Sarah Palin hatred. It is so deep as to be pathological.

But it keeps coming back to Trig.

From the moment Palin was nominated for V.P., the attacks on Trig began. First there were the rumors, spread by Andrew Sullivan and others, that Sarah Palin was not Trig's mother, that there was a grand conspiracy of hundreds if not thousands of people to cover up that Bristol Palin was Trig's real mother. Those Trig truther conspiracy theories have been pushed hard by Sullivan and the others continuously to this day.

Then there were the attacks on Palin for bringing Trig on stage at the Republican National Convention, and with her on the campaign trail. HuffPo blogger Suzy Shuster wrote after Palin brought Trig to the V.P. debate in early October 2008:
It actually came after the debate, when for seemingly the millionth time, Sarah Palin trotted out her piece de resistance, her favorite prop of this campaign season: her five and a half month old son Trig. Why is this child up so late every time there is a camera op? ... My point is, if Palin is going to keep shoving the motherhood card down our collective throats, maybe she can start being a mom again and stop using her own kid for political gain. Trig deserves a good night sleep."
And this post from a self-proclaimed feminist:
In addition to keeping Trig up all hours of the night so that she can parade him around a stage after a pitiful debate performance or speech, she's decided to use baby Trig to get some lusty applause out of the audience, because, let's face it, there's nothing evangelical Christians love more than a developmentally disabled baby they can use to their own end.
The accusation that Trig is used as a "prop" has continued to this day. Megan Elaine at Political Inaction, who accuses Palin of "pimping" Trig in the most recent issue of Runner's World:
it's amazing that Palin is, once again, using Trig as a prop. I mean--is it really necessary to have the baby in a picture with her for Runner's World?? Again, we see her willing to pimp out her children, until one of them gets knocked up. Amazing.
And the personal attacks on Trig for having Down Syndrome have gone far beyond anything I have ever seen, even in politics. My post, Wonkette Goes After Trig Palin Again, has some of the details on the people who fancy themselves intellectuals, and use that intellect to spend their days mocking Trig and creating doctored images of him.

Palin's resignation speech brought out more of the Trig mockers. HuffPo blogger Erik Sean Nelson penned his now-famous (and deleted) post arguing that Sarah Palin's political comeback would be pinned to the need for more "retards." Nelson was far from alone. Witness this post at Paliban Daily:
That’s right. Palin is about to embark on a career of causing babies to be born retarded. Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, crack addiction, or a good old-fashioned kick to the pregnant tummy, it doesn’t matter to Palin. She wants the world to have more Trigs.

Other than fueling a greater need for social services, think how this could benefit Palin politically. She already tests well with the Retarded demographic, and also the Retarded Sympathizer demographic.

Imagine the world Palin is trying to create, in which instead of a superior race, Palin breeds a stupider race. 20 years from now, she’ll only be in her late 60s. She’ll be able to run for President on the Retard ticket . . . no doubt with full support of Retardeds, Retarded Sympathizers, and the Politically-Correct.

Next time around, when Palin is told “Your platform is completely retarded”, she will be able to say, “You betcha! That’s just what my constituents want!”

At Wordsmoker the intellect in charge posted: "To be honest, it’s hard to decipher what she’s on about, or on, so the most pressing question is this -- did Trig Palin write this speech for her?"

I could go on and on. The internet is full of Trig Palin conspiracy theories, name-calling and Photoshopping. No matter what month, event, or excuse, Palin haters find a reason to attack Trig.

If Sarah Palin had aborted Trig, the left would have been okay with it. If she hid Trig offstage and out of sight, all would be good. But treat the child as you would any other child, and that cannot be tolerated.

There is something about a Down syndrome child in plain view which has exposed the moral and emotional bankruptcy of the left-wing of the Democratic party. And they hate Sarah Palin because deep down, they hate themselves for being who they are.

  1. I agree with you. It must really suck being a Democrat... willfully suppressing innate conscience, morality, and decency to become such a disgusting disfigurement of humanity.

Palin, on the other hand, is happy, confident, and principled, a condition that Democrats hate because they themselves have sacrificed themselves to serve evil.

I hope this resignation thing turns out to be something really good for Palin and (hopefully) something good for our country.

  2. You're spot on about the level of hatred. It is a sad commentary on our world that not killing a child is enough to anger some people. Have to wonder how much of that is out of a sense of shame from realizing they would have made a different "choice."

  3. It really IS all about Trig. In the midst of an investigation for embezzlement, Palin is stepping down because someone photoshopped a picture of her kid. Her impending political doom is not relevant at all, right?

I do think that for her kind to succeed, the world DOES need more Trigs. Fortunately for her, with reality TV, infotainment, etc., she won't have to do much to increase the effective number of retards . . . just wait a while.

  4. It's funny, it's only right wing wingnuts that bring up "Trig" at all when talking about Palin.

The reality is that you right wing morons can't consider is that the "hate" of your "sexy" messiah has nothing to do with Trig, it's because she's dumber than a box of wet hair, that she considers her stupidity a strength, and that you insane right wingers praise her for this utter and complete lack of anything resembling knowledge. But, keep making up stories that it's "always been about Trig" whatever floats your boat.

  5. I cannot fathom why conservatives vowed to avenge Carrie Prejean being called a couple of names for saying she believes in second-class citizenship for homosexuals, but when Gov. Sarah Palin's children are repeatedly savaged by David Letterman and his ilk it's only a gay male Democrat in Chicago, Sebastian Gray, and a newly conservative lesbian, me, who have vowed to fight until Letterman is fired to show every bully and wannabe bully that attacking children and vicious sexism are career suicide. Why the double standard?

For people who understand we must get David Letterman fired to show there is zero tolerance for attacking children and degrading women, I have a PDF at my blog that they can download or print out with the names and addresses of CBS's top executives and Letterman's sponsors, plus instructions on how to use them to get David Letterman fired. If we don't do this, we will be swarmed with bullies and our best and brightest candidates will refuse to enter the political arena because they and their children are not safe if they do.

We must show our candidates we have their backs. The time to act is now. Do the work required to get David Letterman fired. The instructions are at www.aconservativelesbian.com.

    (I didn't say that)

  7. Sarah Palin dealt with Trig's birth with compassion, grace, and decency. Those who attack her have none of those qualities.

OK, how much of an idiot do have to be to post something like that under a post that cites no fewer than nine examples of leftists using Trig to attack Sarah.

Leftists just can't read very well, can they?

  9. Poor FMc - you call Palin stupid when you helped elect Biden the Doofus to the same position.

Is she an intellectual giant? No... but she towers above the mediocre minds of the left like yourself that revel in cognative dissonance.

  10. If she'd aborted Trig, it wouldn't have been okay with the left, either, and you know why, too: root causes only go so far.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The people who accuse Palin of "using" Trig do so because they are unable to fathom someone actually walking the walk in intentionally keeping such a pregnancy, and they can't comprehend that the act of doing so is made out of unconditional love for the child. The people who cannot get their heads around this concept are afraid of the power and selflessness such a decision represents; they know in their hearts they would never have been able to make that same choice and they are threatened by it. Since they would never be able to make such a choice, rather than recognize their own (what boils down to) selfish shortcomings, they are forced to conclude that the only reason someone might do this is for selfish reasons, and with Palin those motivations must be self-preservation and self-promotion -- two motivations with which they feel at ease with condemning.

    It speaks volumes.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah, and when they indict her and her husband for corruption, that will be all about Trig, too.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think Trig's a bit young to be used in a strawman argument. So I assume this is a straw baby argument.

    ReplyDelete
  14. As the mother of two young children, I happen to agree that the best place for a newborn baby or even a school-aged child at 8pm+ at night is not on the national stage, lights, noise, etc. Inappropriate and unnecessary. Everyone knows what the media is capable of -- she knew what she was getting into. Given the media's track record and her apparent distress over treatment of her children, you'd think she'd try to shelter the kids? No, they have their own profile in People magazine, pictures in Runner's World, etc. I think the trig argument is BS. There is either a scandal or, after a $11mm book deal combined with all the recent negative press, threw her hands up and said "enough". Can't blame her.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Whatever. This is a smokescreen, and bizarro-feminist pro-life garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  16. She's a fake a fraud and a liar.

She's as dumb as a sack of hammers and can only read speeches (written by other people) heck, her handlers won't even let her appear on "Meet the Press" because she'll give "Saturday Night Live" material for weeks.

She said she was against the "bridge to nowhere".

    That was a lie.

She teaches her children "Abstinence Only"... how'd that work out?

She can't speak in coherent sentences and she's less transparent than Dick Cheney

No matter she's a far right-wingnut, who belongs to an "End of Days" church which qualifies her to be President with access to nuclear launch codes according to Republicans.

Democrats fear Sarah? Hardly... PLEASE make this person the center-piece of the Republican party, I'm begging you.

No doubt Rupert Murdock has big plans for Sarah.

  17. Do you think you could have picked more of a straw man argument? An equivalent criticism of conservatives would be that they hate Obama because they think he's Muslim. While this is some true of some people (23% of Texans during the election) it is a terrible theory to explain conservative opposition in general. Similarly, there are many other factors that are far more plausible and have received far more attention, namely her policy positions and inability (and comfortableness with that inability)to put substantive impetus behind her abundance of cliches.

  18. "Biden the Doofus"

    I prefer "Joe the Dumber".

  19. Nobody cares about Trig.

Trig didn't blow every interview and refuse to hold a single press conference while running to be first in line to Commander In Chief and Leader of the Free World.

That was all Sarah. Don't use the kid as an excuse.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Unless she's planning to run for President, this, sadly, shows that she had no business on the ticket in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm convinced completely by this argument. Everyone knows that Andrew Sullivan is so far to the Left-wing in his policital outlook, and a card carrying member of the Democratic Party.

And don't get me started about Suzy Shuster, Megan Elaine, and Wonkette -- all thought leaders of left!

Yes, you've definitely proved that the left "hate Sarah Palin because deep down, they hate themselves for being who they are."

  24. I don't think the Left knows why they hate palin anymore than they know why they hate bush. They are told to do so and thus they do. I was resently talking about Obama and Hondorus and all my friend could do was bring up Bush and Rove and how evil they are.

All that said while I'm sure many commentaors might hate Tig most of the on the street leftist just hater because they don't know how to question there leaders.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If it's about protecting her children, why did she just now have them stand next to her during this bombshell announcement and say they made the decision for her? That's some interesting parental instincts.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't think it's intellectually honest to take a few statements from the Internet and ascribe some kind of broader meaning from them. The recent article by Erik Sean Nelson was beyond the pale, but I don't think it represents the larger reason we don't like Palin.

It his her disdain for intellect and celebration of ignorance that drives the left crazy. She is GW Bush on steroids. And, no, it's not because we're all pervy and want to have sex with her either. This bizarre and pervasive theory, I think, is more about Rich Lowry-esque Republicans projecting the way they feel about her on Democrats.

More importantly, this reveals the backbone of today's Conservative movement, and what scares me about guys like Beck, Limbaugh, and Hannity: you guys actually think most liberals are evil enough to hate a Down syndrome baby. Do you really think that? And, if you do, what kind of anger must that foster in your heart for us? Where is the limit of your disdain?

    I shudder to think.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I guess I can qualify as a Palin hater but it has nothign to do with her son. I hate the fact shes a liar, involved in scandal after scandal, and is absolutely clueless to the world around her (Africa, NAFTA, what countries are in the North America, A supreme court decision OTHER than Roe V. Wade). She is, in my opinion, incredibly incompetant. And no, I am not from the left wing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Y'know, I'm a crazy leftie nutjob who avidly reads activism blogs, and I never heard the "Trig is really Bristol's Baby" theory until the *right wing* pushed it into the mainstream news.

You're completely right that there are some people who love to imagine conspiracies, some people who love to pick on women and mothers in general, and some people who've made some rude remarks about her baby. But seriously? It is not all about Trig. Not a single leftie I've ever talked to thinks that baby has anything to do with her suitability, or lack thereof, for public office.

    ReplyDelete
  29. As a parent of two children who have autism, I'd like to point out that I don't call them my "autistic kids" or "autism kids". I guess I'm being an overly politically correct "liberal", but I prefer that individuals with disabilities are refered to as people first.
And, although I do not like Sarah Palin as a politician, I really do not like when people keep talking about her "Down Syndrome baby". He is a person and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, just as his mother does.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with you that Palin Derangement Syndrome has to do with the fact that Trig exists.I also am the mother of two children with autism and I despise the left's idea that my children should never have been born. It smacks of eugenics. Lets all talk about leftist controlled health care now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The left commentators on this posting are trying to divert the fundamental issue here. They reference Palin's incompetency as a reason why they don't like her, not the fact that her son is disabled. The point here is larger than that. Attacks on her competency and even her poor decisions are fine when directed at Palin the candidate. Yet her disabled son has nothing to do with her job as an administrator. To suggest that in virtue of her public position, Palin ought to be able to handle attacks on her disabled son presupposes that her family shares the same obligation to the State as she does. In fact, criticisms of Palin have escalated to the point where her policy has become an afterthought. Regardless of what office she holds, the left wants to somehow connect the attributes of Palin's family to Palin the candidate. Criticisms of the latter do not justify attacking the former.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nice to know all Kim Jong Il or Osama bin Ladin would need to do to knock President Palin out of office is to make a joke about Down's Syndrome or teenage pregnancy, at which point Caribou Barbie would resign.

Seriously, though, among the many despicable things that woman has done while campaigning is using her children as human shields. Ask her anything and she's liable to play the Bristol or the Trig cards.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If she is doing this for Trig we should never hear from her again right? Wrong.

She will do many interviews, book tours, speaking engagements etc... she will be more of a media target than ever. Trig will be there to.

This has nothing to do with her son but her own personal gain. Whether it be money or a political future she did this for herself.

No matter how big of a fan you are, you can't ignore what she is obviously doing. She is smart and knows when the going is good and that's what she is doing.

If this were for Trig we will only be able to speculate what Palin might be doing in the future, but alas we will see her and Trig front and center at every media event she can get into.

She is chasing the American dream......nothing wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I wonder how long "the right" is going to continue using every excuse in the book to hide the fact that Palin simply doesn't have what it takes to achieve anything positive for America.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I've never seen a bigger, louder, more depraved bunch of sore winners in my life than lefties and Democrats. You'd think they'd be happy, yet they are more than ever pickled in their own self-loathing that they project onto their "enemies." I truly believe they are mentally ill.

I don't know if it's all about Trig, but that's definitely where PDS started the day after McCain (now there is a true idiot) chose her barely over 10 months ago. That, and Bristol's pregnancy. The insanity was in full flower all over the Drive-Bys and the blogosphere just a couple of days later. Lefties knew McCain had created a serious problem for them - the conservative base was in raptures. Money we would not give McCain alone were he to put a gun to our heads was pouring in by the million starting the day she was named as running mate. She HAD to be destroyed. Further, the Left was losing Bush as their bete noire - the horror! The disease-ridden and drug-addled Andrew Sullivan led the fray against Palin with Trig as the nucleus of his madness and the Left jumped in and has never looked back. Depraved, repugnant and revolting does not begin to describe what followed.

Having been a (former) lifelong lefty, I know how much they hate all people but especially the imperfect for whom they profess compassion. These are people who would kill their own mothers for power and money and probably do. Most true lefties hate their parents and in their deepest recesses wish they themselves had never been born. They don't just hate people, they hate all humanity. Is it any wonder a woman who would knowingly, willingly, lovingly give birth to a Down Syndrome child would be feared and loathed? There's nothing wrong with Palin's intellect, upbringing or social class anymore than there was with Margaret Thatcher's grocer's daughter beginnings. These are all excuses to destroy a compassionate, successful conservative woman because of what she is.

There is nothing good and compassionate about the Left. They are nihilists and depraved.

    ReplyDelete
  36. For those of us who are pro-choice, it's just that: a choice. We have no problem with Palin deciding she wanted to keep Trig. The difference is that we want other people to have the option to make that decision.

Overall, though, this liberal keeps forgetting that her newest child is one of this country's individuals with Down syndrome. Her spectacular incompetence on the campaign trail had nothing to do with any of her children -- it was all her. The inability to discuss policy, the attempts to confuse people about her actual stance on government waste, etc.

I'd also add that I don't think I've even heard of the blogs/authors linked to the in the post aside from Sullivan. And he's neither a liberal nor someone I read.

    ReplyDelete
  37. First of all regarding experience, has everyone forgotten that Sarah Palin had more experience than Barack Obama when the election started? Secondly, would it be more acceptable for the left if Sarah Palin just left her family at home and out of the public eye? Are they embarrassed when handicapped children are around or appear in TV reports? Sarah is young and has great energy just as Barack Obama has but for some reason the left and some right wingers don't appreciate that she really is main stream American, she is what family is all about. I had a totally disabled son with severe brain damage. He was injured in the Army and we brought him home from the VA hospital because of the horrible care. He couldn't do anything for himself. We took him everywhere we went. There were people who were so stupid they pretty much ignored him and us as we tried to get down the street and I can tell you we are very polite people. It is amazing how ignorant some people are or embarrassed when they come across someone who isn't "normal." And what gets me is life can be so cruel, those young left wingers who are spouting off rude remarks may find themselves in the same conditions, now maybe they will abort the baby or turn the child over to the federal government to care for them, but they will never live it down in their heart for their cruelity. What is wrong with people today? Cruelty and meanness is so rampant as I have never experienced in my long life on earth. As far as Sarah's experience, the left-wingers must be deaf not to hear or understand what she has accomplished in Alaska, or they just don't want to know. They would rather have a President who thinks he is the messiah.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm really disappointed you missed our selection of Trig as the Best Human Prop in a Supporting Role for 2008.

    ReplyDelete
  39. This is craziness. Do you really think that liberals hate Down's Syndrome babies?

Who attempts to get legislation passed to provide services to handicapped children and their parents? Certainly not Republicans or other conservatives.

Who fights for laws forbidding discrimination against handicapped folks? Again, not Republicans.

On the other hand, who slashes education and social services budgets? I think we all know that it's not the Left.

I also think it's hilarious that commenters upthread seem to think that liberals are told what to think. The networks are mostly spouting right-wing talking points, and the shows that are clearly "left-leaning" (Olbermann, Maddow) freely admit that they expect that their viewers already know what they're going to talk about. Further, there's noone on the left that controls the discussion they way that Hannity, Rush, and o'Falafel do.

FInally, why would Palin even think she was acceptable as a candidate? Her husband "palled around" with successionists, her abstinence-only home had an unmarried pregnancy, and she didn't have a basic understanding of world politics.

Why do some people believe that the Democrats are evil cultural elites when the Republican party is and always has been run by wealthy white businessmen?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mr. Jacobson, Please stop! Nobody hates Ms. Palin. Hate is when someone implies that some parts of America are better than others. That news conference was her idea, not the left. So please, stop complaining. The right is scared! They know that it maybe 2040 before they win the Whitehouse again. If the Republicans keep their 2012 defeat under double digits, I will be impressed.

  42. This is craziness. Do you really think liberals hate Down's syndrome babies?

Yes, Doc, they really do. Conservatives know that they'll never win against actual liberal ideas when they're clearly and unapologetically expressed, so they make up a big scary baby-hating, terrorist loving monster, call that mythical beast a "liberal" and argue against that.

They find it easier than actually thinking.

  43. Jean, what experience are you talking about? "PRESIDENT" Obama graduated from Harvard Law School. Are you saying that Ms. Palin is smart as the President?

  45. Obama graduated from Harvard Law School. Are you saying that Ms. Palin is smart as the President?

HA HA Ha -- that's the funniest thing I've heard all day

Palin's no intellectual (neither is O-Bambi), but she has common sense, and she understands that our Federal government is supposed to have limited power.

Please give me one piece of evidence that O-bambi is smart--a degree isn't proof.

If she's so dumb, how did she make slow-joe look silly in debates?

  46. I don't know why Sarah Palin resigned,

    That's OK, she doesn't either.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anybody who has to affix "Dr." to his posts to give them heft is in dire danger of blowing away in a zephyr.

Thanks to Mr. Jacobson for assembling these links. While I doubt that Governor Palin has wasted time reading all this, it's certain that the viciousness at both the national and local levels has finally taken its toll. I don't know why anybody who wasn't a multimillionaire to begin with would run for governor of Alaska where defending oneself from bogus ethics charges could bankrupt an average family.

Fortunately for Trig, he never understood and may never understand the way he was used to attack his mother. We truly have sunken to new lows when this kind of repulsive attack can spread, especially by someone like Sullivan who is bathetic in his own yearnings for gay marriage, but not apparently for family.

I think it takes a particular coldness of mind and spirit to see Mrs. Palin and her family and think only that she's a conniver, out to snatch power away from your own hero, Barack Obama. Even those of us who oppose him and what he's doing to this country know that he loves his family. Why were there no complaints about his abuse of his wife and daughters during the campaign? Probably, because it's perfectly natural for people to be be seen as family men and women when running for office.

When your soul has shrunk to this degree, you're not worth denouncing any more. You are your own debasement.

  48. I live in Alaska, I follow news in our state and nation. I thought she was a breath of fresh air during her Gov campaign. I observed her style of campaign and remake by national GOP in Veep campaign. I had my own doubts about things she has said and done. I researched her, I followed what others said.
I do not believe she gave birth to the special needs child, Trig Paxton. I contributed a photo taken at a event just weeks before the famous wild ride from Texas. I believe she covered for her very underage daughter in her frist pregnancy. One site that has well researched info, photos, travel schedules, Gov. schedules etc is the blog on palindeception.com. I believe Palin covered for her daughter to save her own embarassment as a parent who didn't walk her talk and as a new governor who had to protect her conservative brand. i believe she is a fraud, besides not taking care of her children properly or this baby during the campaign and general lack of knowledge and experience in governing.

  49. What a ridiculous question Wally from PA. Don't you know the difference between a person having years of active experience on the job and a person who only has a law degree and a short time experience on the job? I said nothing about who was smarter than the other. Are you so intellegent you can make that determination?

    ReplyDelete
  50. You are all nuts. You all are thinking, about the wrong things. Lets get together and work things out. This here is not a discussion, you are on two opposing sides that are battling an endless battle. And yet we are expected to live together as one, as a nation. This is a waste of energy. We Americans celebrate the moments when we came together to work things out, like the Declaration of Independence, when our forefathers were able to find the wonderful ideas and beliefs that we have in common. We as a country want to be strong, we want to be wise, we want to live. So come on, lets change our attitudes and our language, and lets stop pretending that we can say whatever we want here on the internet because it is "virtual." This place has real world implications, so lets discuss things in a realistic fashion, respecting one another and not name calling, branding each other, putting words in each other's mouths, and saying things that we know will only inflame our opponent. LETS REMEMBER WHY WE ARE HERE, BECAUSE WE LOVE EACH OTHER AND OUR COUNTRY. This is the best country in the world, but we are not doing our best.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't disagree with Palin because she's got a special needs child, I disagree with her because I find her positions wrong and her time in office poorly spent. By trying to put those who would disagree with her on the side of "against babies", you show how weak your arguments are.

Congratulations - you've found extreme examples of poor behavior from liberal blogs and spun them into an entire democratic ideology. If I were to do the same with those on the extreme right espousing violence against those they disagree with, I'd be just as ethically bankrupt.

  52. Obama has not one single achievement to his name or qualification to be president. Not one. "President" has now been dumbed down to the level of social worker. Community Activist is not a resume enhancement. Extreme narcissism is not a personality enhancement. He has no character. He cannot think or speak on his feet. His cadences and sibilances when reading the TOTUS are unbelievably offputting and beyond boring, he says nothing whatsoever of substance but does manage to continually contradict himself, he has never led or presided over anything of substance, he did not write his own book, and he is a Marxist and an African Colonial. No one - conservative and liberal alike - wants to see or hear him. Terrorists and America-haters are his mentors and wife. His objective to all but the braindead is to destroy this country as we know it and every single person who voted for him wittingly or unwittingly colluded in this goal. He is the greatest fraud and con artist of modern times. If these are the skills and talents to get one to the Oval Office these days, America is DONE. Our own Congress and our sham and travesty of a media abetted this coming destruction of our liberties and should suffer for it with loss of power, prestige, money and jobs.

Sarah Palin understands all this and likely will work for real change, not fake hopeychangey swill. If she never runs for office again but tends to her family and works to get good people elected to office at state and national levels, that is great. Heaven knows the Republicans are utterly pathetic now and need all the help they can get. The more Obama fails, and he will, the more demoralized the Depraved Party will be. The vacuum created cannot be taken advantage of by a Republican Party swirling the drain of their own demoralization, and Palin is a great choice to help start the recovery. It certainly can't be done by Useless Idiots like Colin Powell, McCain, and various other Dem Lite favorites of the NYT. She is a role model and inspiration to millions of people who will NOT go gently into that good night at the behest of the commie in the White House.

None of this has anything to do with Trig, but it is all stuff too many people refuse to discuss and deal with honestly. So much easier to discuss people and things rather than ideas (not a slam against Prof. Jacobson but against the Andrew Sullivan Left). It is not the Right obsessed with Palin's kids, it is the LEFT. Denying it doesn't make it not so.

  53. What a load of crap.

What its about is a woman who thinks she ought qualified to be run the most powerful nation in the free world when she is so willfully ignorant that she's utterly flummoxed by the simplest of questions from Katie Couric.

It's funny, it's only right wing wingnuts that bring up "Trig" at all when talking about Palin.

There are reading comprehension classes out there. Look them up and save yourself from being the laughing stock.

Please read the post prior to yours, and quit worrying about Sarah Palin. The One IS far worse off in all of the traits you pretend to hold high, especially accomplishment, understanding and intelligence. It appears all he has to speak for his job is his color.

  56. They aren't doctoring a picture of Trig, they're doctoring a picture of Sarah. Take a look at one. Do you see Trig or do you see Sarah ? You see Sarah. It's a picture of Sarah. Because if someone isn't in a picture, then it isn't a picture of them.

    It's not that hard people.

  57. I like how you accuse liberals of lifting up Obama to a messiah like level yet at the same time swarm like slack jawed piranhas around whenever someone attacks SARAH, who you tout will revitalize the Republican party and once again make America the land of Gods and Guns. Now really, what kind of mental gymnastics do your reptilian brains twist through to not realize the hypocrisy in this?

And if you would have read the bible, and not just let it sit next to your copy of Joe the Plumber's memoirs, you'd know that Jesus does not like hypocrites as all.

Most of these pictures, as a member of one of the boards responsible, are aimed at Sarah anyway, or are just funny attempts to make pop culture references. I have nothing but respect for Trig and hope that he one day my find himself in a house where he is loved and cared for, and not just carried around as a way to get votes.

You mean.. like the time she stopped traffic for a run to the ice cream store with her two kids in tow and Mark Knoller of CBS News twittered away at how cute it was?

    That type of photo opp?

  59. Wow, interesting site, lots to think about with just this one article. Personally, ?I don't think a woman should be president. Call me sexist if you want, I'm a woman. I've worked for companies run by women... not fun.
On the other hand, the media and the critics have just gotten so childish and spiteful- it's nice to see someone try to stand up to them and not play their game.
I would vote for Sarah Palin, only because I see very few REAL men in politics, certainly fewer smart ones.
Our own Montana Governor, however, is awesome. True he's a Democrat. He has a Republican as his running mate. Our budget has a surplus, we're not neck-deep in debt. Some of his policies are a bit Big Brother, but he's not afraid to stand up to Washington- especially for gun rights. He's the only Dem I've voted for in 20 years, and his partner is the only Republican since Reagan except for Bush against Kerry. John scared the bejeebers out of me.
    Brian Schweitzer for President!

  61. Trig scares the liberal left because he is living proof that refutes many of their deep seated beliefs - first and foremost of which is that disabled people are a burden on society and should be aborted as soon as they are detected or put in an institution so they don't interfere with a woman "finding herself" and being "fulfilled." It's bad enough that Sarah Palin is a mother of more than two children and proud of it (they'd REALLY prefer a law passed like China's, killing all babies except one per couple). Another thing they can't stand is she takes her children with her when she travels, etc. since REAL women (so they say) farm out child-rearing to minimum wage (or less) illegals. In their view, no REAL woman actually wants to raise her children. And the horror of it all, Sarah has to be proud of her disabled child, too - why, she actually loves her disabled child. Like the women whose deaths are played down by the media because they were killed for refusing to have an abortion (one such case in our town has been reported on for over two years without the media EVER actually saying her boyfriend and his father killed her so he wouldn't have to pay child support) - the liberal elite don't want happy moms of disabled children shown in public. It might give people the strange idea that disabled children can have a good life and killing them for convenience is, dare I say it, WRONG?

  62. These people on the left should be SO VERY ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!! It makes me sick to my stomach to think about them and their awful, despicable treatment of a mother who they hate - simply because they hate her politics and/or ideology; and they hate her for choosing to give birth to her Down Syndrome baby boy, Trig. My eyes just well up with tears for the Palin family and all that they have suffered and endured by these horribly evil, ranting people.

Jesus had harsh words against adults who would harm a child. I don't think he only meant physical harm - he also meant emotional and spiritual harm being inflicted upon innocents as well.

Mat 18:6 "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Mar 9:42 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.

Luk 17:2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

  64. Admit it, lefties -- you hate her because she dared let a less-than-perfect child live! I am quite familiar with your bigotry against those with Down's Syndrome.

Spare me the "using her kid as a prop" BS. If she would have never let him be photographed and never had him in public, you would have disingenuously accused her of being "ashamed" of him.

It *is* about Trig. Own it, lefties!

  66. Yes, the truth will come out. To the question of:

Is Trig the natural born son of Sarah Palin?

    Who is Trig's REAL mom?

    and

    Is Trig really Bristol's baby?

The answers will reveal themselves to be:
    Yes
    Sarah Palin
    and
    No.

    In that order.

  67. I can't even tell who's joking or not anymore.

Sarah Palin is really good at reaching people on a gut level. Sometimes it's in a good way, and sometimes it's in a bad way.

    It's not about Trig.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Sarah's kids are healthy, happy, and well adjusted. Trig is healthy and big for his age (unusual for a Down's child, they tend to be on the small side). He also smiles a lot. It is obvious that, dispite the cries of the Sarah haters, Sarah Palin is doing something right in raising him.
About him being up too late on the political stage: As I understand it, it's normal for babies to sleep on and off on an irregular 24 hour schedule. If Trig is up late one night, no problem. He's got all day to sleep.
And Mr. Cheapsketeninja: He already does live in a house where he's loved and cared for.
There is no proof that Sarah Palin is anything but an exceptional parent.
