Mr. Reagan tells the story of the time in 1981 when a senior admiral came to the White House to brief the President and Cabinet on maneuvers scheduled to begin in the Gulf of Sidra off Libya.
The President was asked how far American pilots should pursue Libyan planes if they harassed American aircraft or ships in violation of international law.
"All the way into the hangar," he replied.
"A smile broke out on the admiral's face, and he said, 'Yes, sir.'
